NUTEC was selected to provide Architectural, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Construction Management services for a building renovation for Sun Automation Group, a manufacturer of corrugated box equipment. This project entailed renovation of a building formerly owned by Northrop Grumman to consolidate functions from four Sun Automation facilities into a single location.
The project scope included creation of approximately 14,000 sq. ft. of office space in a former manufacturing area. The new space within the $2.4 million project provides a mix of private and open offices as well as an engineering lab, an employee lunch room and rest rooms. A new wall was constructed to separate the office space from the manufacturing area, and a storage mezzanine was incorporated. Structural challenges were created due to the open office floor plan and working around existing conditions. A new HVAC system was required for the new offices as well as existing office space. NUTEC delivered this project under a design-build methodology, operating under a Guaranteed Maximum Price.
